It's been a pretty quiet couple of weeks for me. The last poker tournament that I played this year was also the first one that I played in 2009, as we came back to Galway for the IPC.

With the run up to Christmas and having three sons ranging from seven to 15, plus a real job to worry about, this is the first time I have had chance to reflect on the IPC in Galway.

Just got into NYC for Christmas, spending it here with my bro and family so it should be a nice wholesome time. Then Vegas for some debauchery for the New Year, there are nine of us going, it'll be some laugh.

A very merry Christmas to all the readers of the Boylepoker blog! Check back over the holidays as we'll continue with the blogs as much as possible!

I headed off to Galway for strangely enough, my second Irish Poker Championship of 2009. I don't know the official line on whether it was the 2010 championship, so we'll go for the 20??

The password for this week's Boylepokerblog.com freeroll at 8pm tonight is festive. Best of luck!

It's been a busy two weeks for me, which meant I got to play very little online. I went to Cork for the Christmas Festival two weeks ago and when I came home I went house-hunting for a place to move into.

It was a fairly uneventful week for me last week. I was pretty sick and hence didn't do much. I was supposed to go away with some friends to Portland for the weekend but I still felt like shit so decided against it.

Well, was no good in the high roller, didn't play well in it at all and ran QQ into AA. Won nearly $10k for the week, but $6k of that came from sports betting.

My beloved Barrow played out of their skins the other night and murdered Oxford 3-1 to reach the 3rd round of the FA Cup, for the second year running.

Well it's a bit of a mixed bag down here, I seem to be taking two steps forward then one back everyday. It kinda feels like I am going nowhere, but a small profit is being recorded.

Morocco has been a very welcome change for me. I've traded the hours of endless darkness in Ireland and doing my bollix in the cold, for winning and waking up to breakfast on the balcony in the morning sunshine.

Landed in Galway today ahead of the IPC which starts tomorrow and I write this as I am waiting for Ciaran and Padraig, who are on their way from Dublin.

Marty Smyth speaks to fellow Boylepoker pro Nicky Power, after he put pen to paper as the newest addition to the Boylepoker ranks!

New Boylepoker pro Nicky Power has a nice ring to it - well I think so anyway. I was delighted to secure the deal with Boyles as quite simply, it feels like getting picked to play poker for Ireland.

Apologies for the lack of news lately, but it's a lot harder to think of anything to write about when I haven't been playing much, and when I have played I generally haven't lasted very long.

Well, lost a fair bit last week. I was down $40k at one stage, but got out doing just under $30k, which in some ways feels like a result.

Went to the Fitz last weekend and ended up running pretty bad in the two tourneys I played. In the EOM I was down to the last 25 or so, before running 88 into AA - and that was that.

So I make it to Dublin on Saturday by train, plane and automobile, accompanied by Salmon and PC.

Well, still doing my bollix. Down $11.5k already this week in poker and won $2.5k from sports betting. When you're continuously losing, you do a lot of thinking - well it's more doubting yourself than thinking.

What a couple of weeks!! It started Monday 16th Nov - the Monday before the BOSP II live final in Dublin and my travelling/drinking/poker buddy Chris Salmon appeared in front of the nation on ITV's 'Golden Balls', with Jasper Carrot.

I had a great week poker wise and managed to cash in on two ECOOP events. The highlight was my second place finish in the 1k PLO for 31k. Unfortunately I couldn't get the title and the extra 20k for first.
