Well, it's Easter time and when the normys are enjoying the long weekend, while pretending that they are somewhat religious, the poker creeps are foaming at the mouth with the Irish Open kicking off.
March 2010 Archives

Easter weekend is the most important annual religious feast in the Christian liturgical year. For poker players in Ireland, it means one thing; the most important tournament of the year is upon us.

Fair play to Chubs for his 3rd in Barcelona, although it would have been nice for him to win it, 3rd was ideal - it was the most he could have gotten without passing my biggest cash out.

Well I've certainly had worse weekends, ended up finishing in third place at the Euro City Poker Tour Barcelona for a tasty 65k.

Kerry men have in general attained a reputation for playing tight poker. I saw this taken to a new level at the Paddy's day Deep Stack extravaganza at the Macau Casino Cork.

Just back from a hastily arranged but very exciting business trip to Tokyo - my first ever visit to Asia. Tokyo is an amazing place - I couldn't believe the sheer scale of it.

I had signed up for both the Poker For The Homeless tournament and also Neil Channing's 'London Live' event in the Vic, before I realised they were on the same weekend.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, I've gotten fed up with slaving away for hours on end multi-tabling small cash games and sit and go's, and have had a bit of a break from internet poker over the last week and a half.

The Jackpot was the venue for this wonderful event. It's a great testament to the players that numbers were up on last year in these recessionary times and €15,000 was raised for a worthy cause.

I wouldn't be much of a man for the horses but for one week a year they're worth a punt, as there's nothing quite like watching your horse go up the hill at Cheltenham.

Well, this week has been all about the losing. I played money night, the highroller and excited quick enough.

To celebrate one of the top festivals of the racing calendar, Boylepoker.com is hosting a super Cheltenham €2,500 Freeroll tournament!

Funny ol' game this poker malarky, couldn't win a hand in February then March rolls round and I pretty much haven't lost one. I ran scary good the last week or so and won back most of the losses of February, so happy days. Or as John O'Shea put it "you're on the 'March' ". A very appropriate title imo.

Well, Galway was a bit a bit disappointing for a few reasons. First off, the numbers they got weren't great. The satellite and main event got 21 but it's a new event and hopefully it will kick on from here.

Haven't really gotten back to the grind since I got home. I've been trying to make a large withdrawal, but these things take time and I don't want to go to war with a large account behind me.

Well thank fuck February is over, I couldn't win a pot to save my life. As a result, it ended up being my worst month ever. Although I think I'm playing really well the last week-ish, so I'll just have to ride it out I reckon.

Marty brought a bandit to the K Club last week for the golf, but he didn't do it right. Kevin played off twenty and did what all good golf hustlers do, just scraped home for his team on day one. Then on day two when the stakes were up, he shot the lights out, hitting a magnificent 38 points on the Smurfit course to secure a 14 point victory for his team.

I said in my last blog that I was gonna be staying at home for a few weeks and grinding back the money I'd lost in my disaster of a night in Brisbane. It hasn't quite worked out like that, but it's not for the want of trying.
