BOSP II Live Updates

21 November 2009 | Category: by: Poker Team

Live updates from The Jackpot card room in Dublin, where nine event winners from our Be Our Sponsored Pro II promotion are playing for a €10,000 sponsorship package.

21:15 - We have a WINNER!

That's it folks from the Jackpot, we have a new BOSP II champion. We saw all the chips in the middle with Darren Naylor covering Noel Clarke. Noel, who was short stacked, showed heart_8.gif heart_6.gif while Darren threw down spade_ace.gif heart_queen.gif. And then that unnerving feeling for both players crept up, anything could happen. The flop came down as spade_queen.gif club_7.gif diamond_jack.gif then the turn diamond_2.gif and the river heart_ace.gif which secured 1st place for Darren. He makes 2 pair AQ, and we have our BOSP II Winner. It was an action packed evening here. Well done to all that played, and Noel Clarke our 2nd place finisher. Congratulations to our winner Darren Naylor who we hope will prosper in his future poker career as a Boylepoker player.

21:05 - A massive double up

Darren doubles up with a monster hand to match a monster pot. He limped in only to see Noel raising another chip_icon.jpg3k. Darren reacted by pushing all-in. Noel goes into the tank and then calls. With everyone on their feet, Darren shows heart_jack.gif diamond_jack.gif to Noels club_ace.gif diamond_9.gif. The flop does no favours for Noel as out comes club_jack.gif heart_10.gif spade_10.gif heart_8.gif and diamond_4.gif, giving Darren a full house and a significant chip stack.

20:55 - And then there were 2!

BOSPII-114-thierry.jpgWith the blinds at 600 / 1200, our short stack Seat 5 - Thierry found a hand and made his stand. He had chip_icon.jpg4,600 and pushed all-in. Noel Clarke made the call showing club_ace.gif diamond_king.gif to Thierry's diamond_ace.gif club_2.gif. The flop came diamond_3.gif diamond_8.gif spade_3.gif club_10.gif and spade_5.gif and Noel takes the pot! Theirry leaves us in 3rd place and now it's time for heads up between the final two, Noel and Darren. The chip counts are close at:

Noel Clarke - 26,100
Darren Naylor - 18,900

20:45 - Chip count update

With just 3 players left, we decided to give you another update on the stacks:

Noel Clarke - 21,100
Darren Naylor - 19,300
Thierry Douchin - 4,600

20:35 - 4th place elimination

BOSPII-108-ace6.jpgAnother all-in from Seat 5 - Thierry, and a call from his neighbour in Seat 6 - Lars. Thierry has Lars slightly covered so the cards are turned over, Thierry shows pocket fives and Lars shows diamond_ace.gif spade_6.gif. The flop comes down 3 3 5 with nothing to help on the turn or river, and Lars leaves us in 4th place.

20:25 - 5th place elimination

John Weafer in Seat 7 goes all-in for chip_icon.jpg8,400 total. It folds around to seat 2 Darren Naylor who goes into the tank and makes the call. Darren has John covered so the cards hit the felt. John shows heart_jack.gif diamond_king.gif, and Darren shows spade_king.gif spade_queen.gif. The flop comes diamond_ace.gif spade_6.gif diamond_3.gif, the turn showsheart_5.gif and with no help on the river, John finishes in 5th as Darren's hand holds.

20:15 - Johnny Weafer doubles up

Thierry Douchin raises to chip_icon.jpg2,000 preflop in an early position and Johnny, in the cut off, re-raises all in. We have a good old fashioned race with Thierry tabling club_ace.gif club_queen.gif and Johnny showing spade_jack.gif heart_jack.gif. The flops comes heart_king.gif spade_5.gif spade_7.gif and the turn takes away some of Thierry's out with spade_9.gif while the river is heart_5.gif and Johnny scoops the lot. He is now up to chip_icon.jpg12,200

20:05 - Jason is gone!

BOSPII-096-jasoneliminated.jpgOnly minutes into the 400/800 level we lose our next player, Seat 3 - Jason Tucker. Jason had one big blind left and went all in as the blind. It folded back around to the small blind Seat 2 - Darren Naylor, who called hoping to take Jason down. Darren showed heart_6.gif heart_10.gif. Jason showed diamond_king.gif diamond_4.gif, no improvement on the flop for Jason and he left us in 6th place.

19:55 - Another falls

BOSPII-064-clodagheliminated.jpgWe're just back from the break with the blinds at 400/800, Clodagh in Seat 4 ships all-in for chip_icon.jpg900. We have a raise from Thierry in seat 5. Everyone else folds. Cards are on there backs and Clodagh shows spade_king.gif heart_6.gif, and Thierry shows spade_ace.gif heart_jack.gif. The flops unfortunately doesn't help Clodagh and she is finished in 7th place.

19:20 - Break time chip count

We're taking another break for 30 minutes, chip stacks are as follows:

Noel Clarke - 11,900
Darren Naylor - 6,800
Jason Tucker - 3,200
Clodagh Hourigan - 800
Thierry Douchin - 10,000
Lars Henrik Buschmann - 4,200
John Weafer- 9,300

19:15 - Clodagh gets crippled

Clodagh raises to chip_icon.jpg1,200 in an early position (blinds 300/600) and the action is folded around to Noel on the big blind. Noel ships the lot, totaling chip_icon.jpg5,525, and after a big dwell, Clodagh calls and tables heart_queen.gif heart_jack.gif. Noel flips over Kings to dominate pre-flop. A flop of club_queen.gif heart_6.gif heart_10.gif sets hearts racing. club_10.gif on the turn and club_4.gif on the river brought the pot Noel's direction and has Clodagh on less than 1 big blind.

BOSPII-088-eoineliminated.jpg19:10 - Eoin O'Mara is eliminated!

We just lost seat 9 - Eoin O'Mara. We had an all in from seat 2 - Darren Naylor. Everybody folded to Eoin, who short stacked made the call. Cards on their backs. Darren showed diamond_ace.gif club_queen.gif, Eoin showed club_king.gif spade_3.gif. The cards came heart_4.gif spade_8.gif spade_ace.gif spade_6.gif heart_7.gif. Darren made aces, and it was no improvement on the flop for Eoin, game over for another player!

18:55 - All-in confusion

BOSPII-080-thierry.jpgThere was a little confusion in this hand between the French man, Thierry, and the Irishman, Eoin, who raised preflop to chip_icon.jpg1,500. Thierry was the only caller which showed a checked flop of diamond_2.gif heart_4.gif diamond_queen.gif. Thierry checks in the dark ahead of the spade_6.gif, but Eoin reacts by making a bet before Thierry goes all-in for chip_icon.jpg3,275 which hadn't been heard by half of the table, but was a legitimate call. Thierry shows club_ace.gif spade_queen.gif against diamond_jack.gif spade_jace.gif. The river came heart_10.gif favouring Thierry's Queen!

18:50 - Pocket power!

We had a raise from seat 5, Thierry makes it 1K to go. The small blind folds, and Eoin raises from the big blind. Thierry contemplates for a moment before making a great call by folding pocket tens before Eoin shows Kings.

18:45 - Chip stack update

Nobody else has dropped off, so we're still at 8 players:

Noel Clarke - 5,275
Darren Naylor - 7,350
Jason Tucker - 2,500
Clodagh Hourigan - 5,600
Thierry Douchin - 5,275
Lars Henrik Buschmann - 4,000
John Weafer- 8,050
Eoin O'Mara - 5,925

18:30 - Danish Double

BOSPII-083-queenhand.jpgA well timed double up for Lars. Thierry raised to chip_icon.jpg1k under the gun, next to act Lars ships all in for chip_icon.jpg2,525. The action is folded back around to Thierry who makes a crying call. Thierry shows heart_10.gif diamond_10.gif and Lars flips over club_queen.gif diamond_queen.gif. The flop comes down diamond_king.gif heart_queen.gif diamond_4.gif. Thierry calls for running cards. The turn brings the heart_jack.gif and a big OHHHH from the players but the club_5.gif on the river gives the pot to our sole Danish player Lars, who now sits on chip_icon.jpg5,375

18:15 - The French are at it again! :)

The latest hand proved quite amusing. Jason limps in late position and Thierry (conicidence?) completes from the small blind. A flop of heart_2.gif club_3.gif diamond_4.gif is shown and after it being checked around to Jason he bets out chip_icon.jpg450 into a chip_icon.jpg600 pot. Thierry calls resulting in Lars' fold. The heart_jack.gif on the turn is checked by both players and the spade_ace.gif on the river is checked to Jason who seemingly checks with a hint of reluctance. Jason turns over spade_2.gif spade_4.gif and Thierry shows Ah4c for a better 2 pair. A quick shout of "Handball" from Noel Clarke brings the room into a fit of laughter

18:00 - Lars vs Eoin

I joined the table to see a pot involving Lars and Eoin, the flop came down as a possible flush warned players with diamond_4.gif diamond_5.gif diamond_10.gif. Lars bet out for chip_icon.jpg750 and Eoin flat called. The turn was the heart_8.gif, Lars checks followed by a check from Eoin. The river shows an spade_ace.gif and the possible flush seems less likely. Lars bets chip_icon.jpg750 and Eoin calls. Lars shows pocket Jacks, but the luck is on Eoin's side as he flashes the bullets and takes down the pot.

17:50 - John turns up the aggression

After play folded around to Jason he raised to chip_icon.jpg600. Not many wanted to pick up the play here which folded around to the big blind, who calls. The flop shows diamond_6.gif spade_5.gif diamond_8.gif. John shoves in a big bet of chip_icon.jpg1,125 which was called by Jason. The turn comes spade_10.gif. This round was cut short as Jason checked to John who immediately went all in for another chip_icon.jpg1,100 which saw him taking the pot. If he keeps this up, John could be heading for a nice lead

17:40 - Eoin takes another pot

BOSPII-075-johneoin.jpgWe're just back from the break and straight back into it. We're at level 4 with 100 / 200 and it's blind on blind; play has folded around to John Weafer who completes the small, and Eoin O'Mara in the big blind checks. The flop comes as a Unkown suit J Unkown suit 7 Unkown suit Q rainbow. Eoin calls John's bet of chip_icon.jpg700. Eoin happily scoops the pot after betting chip_icon.jpg1,000 to the check as we had diamond_3.gif on the turn

17:30 - Another count as our players take 10

We're still eight handed, and the following are some more chip counts for you:

Seat 1: Noel Clarke 7,125
Seat 2: Darren Naylor 7,800
Seat 3: Jason Tucker 4,150
Seat 4: Clodagh Hourigan 2,875
Seat 5: Thierry Douchin 7,450
Seat 6: Lars Henrik Buschmann 5,675
Seat 7: Michael Haren (Exited)
Sear 8: John Weafer 3,775
Seat 9 : Eoin O'Mara 6,200

17:20 - First Break

BOSPII-074-aislingdealer.jpgLast hand before the break and Lars get a walk on the big blind. Players will take a 10 minute break and the battle will recommence! Aisling, our dealer, just checked all the cards before cracking open a new deck.

16:55 - Chip Count

Seat 1: Noel Clarke 6,500
Seat 2: Darren Naylor 8,800
Seat 3: Jason Tucker 4,300
Seat 4: Clodagh Hourigan 4,000
Seat 5: Thierry Douchin 6,625
Seat 6: Lars Henrik Buschmann 5,725
Seat 7: Michael Haren (Exited)
Sear 8: John Weafer 3,875
Seat 9 : Eoin O'Mara 5,000

16:35 - First Elimination!

BOSPII-069-michaelharen.jpgWe've just lost our first player. It all happened in a pot involving Lars Buschmann and Michael Haren. Michael called a bet from Lars, which landed a flop of heart_ace.gif heart_4.gif club_4.gif. Lars bet out for chip_icon.jpg450 and was called by Michael. The Turn brought a club_6.gif and Lars bet a whopping chip_icon.jpg1,050. Michael pushed all in, and we had a quick call from Lars. Gasps were heard around the table as the cards were on their backs. Michael showed club_ace.gif spade_10.gif and Lars showed pockets of heart_6.gif spade_6.gif for the full house! We had a k on the river and Michael exited in 9th place.

16:20 - Darren Naylor takes the pot

With the blinds still at 25 - 50 (first round), it was folded around to Darren Naylor in a late position. He raised to chip_icon.jpg450. It was then folded around to Michael Haren who called on the big blind. The flop was shown as club_king.gif diamond_4.gif club_7.gif. Michael tested Darren by checking, only to receive a raise of chip_icon.jpg600, which Michael called. The turn followed as diamond_jack.gif with both players checking. spade_5.gif came on the river and Michael bet a massive chip_icon.jpg 1,000.

After a long time in the think tank, Darren called. He showed spade_ace.gif diamond_king.gif to Michael's club_8.gif club_9.gif. Darren won with Kings.

16:10 - And they're off!

BOSPII-049-begin.jpgBOSPII-053-jasontucker.jpgAfter a few moments of preparing, we're making a timely start. Everything is running smoothly as the dealer kicks off with the first hand. Jason Tucker, our 9th player just made it to the event with moments to spare, saving his blinds being fed to the other 8 players.

Clodagh Hourigan has made a steady start, winning a few small pots as the players start to test the water. We expect things to heat up once the blind levels kick in. The blind will be raised every 20 minutes.

13:50 - Excitement is mounting

BOSPII-006-table.jpgExcitement is building as we head towards the second of our "Be our Sponsored Pro" tournament. Nine players will compete for the winner takes all prize of a €10,000 sponsorship package offered by Boylepoker!

The players are filtering into the Jackpot Card Club, located on Montague Street, Dublin. Although the day brings miserable weather to the country, the players don't seem to be aware of this as they look forward to getting stuck into some great poker.

"Where are you from?" is a question that has been heard several times. We have quite a mix of nationalities between just 9 players. They hail from England, Wales, France, Denmark and of course Ireland. You can view the player profiles here

BOSPII-009-table.jpgThe table is ready, the players are hungry for a game, but first things first...we're all hungry for lunch. We'll be back with the build up to what should be an exciting game of poker!

The updates are excellent guys, way better than watching the untelevised snooker on Teletext... dreadful coverage on Ceefax, sometimes you can wait 1 hour for an update on the frames.

How was lunch?
