We went for lunch yesterday and came up with some even more great ideas, one involved monkeys, celebrities and drinking, so it is most unlikely to happen, but we do keep surprising ourselves.
In case you don't already know, let me introduce the IPO team.
Lisa Condon (LC): Limerick Baby of the team and as the only female member is considered by all the rest us as 'Our Lisa'. She dealt the final table at this year's Irish Open before coming to join us, shortly after graduating with a first class honours degree in Marketing. She's working on things such as the website, the weekend itself, marketing, assisting the guys from Poker Ireland, dealing with registrations, customer issues, blogs,VIPS, purchasing, merchandising, staffing, security, branding, promotion, entertainment, equipment, media, filming, advertising, emails, phone calls, faxes, competitor analysis, figures, budgets, transport, PR, celebrities, monkeys etc. She's a barrelful of laughs and has the filthiest laugh of anyone on the floor we work on.
Mark Nunan (MN), Drogheda: Mark is head of Marketing and Business Development. Mark and his team, like me, are also responsible for all of the above. Mark is considerably smarter than Lisa and I, we listen to Mark.
Conor Grant (CG), Newry: Conor is my boss, Head of Online Business. Conor made the fateful decision to employ me, wish him luck. Our involvement in this event wouldn't be happening without him, like Mark, Conor is considerably smarter than Lisa and I, we listen to Conor.
Paul Spillane (PS): Head of Poker, optimist. Management style part Ramsey, part Homer Simpson.
Ciaran Corbett (CC): Poker Team prodigy.
Gerry 'The Bishop' Bishop (TB): Poker Team right hand man.
Customer Service: Quite simply the best I have worked with and I have worked for quite a few betting companies. Top notch crew and make our lives so much easier.
We are working closely with Poker Ireland, predominately Stephen McClean (SM). Stephen has tons of experience and oceans of enthusiasm. We like Stephen a lot.
Other honourable mentions in the future of course.
Off to Cork now to watch another poker tournament in action, learn anything I can, do some business, meet the champion & his Lady, take a few people to dinner and keep my eye on CC.
I don't have children but I reckon I'd be a good parent; I try to stop him doing anything he shouldn't.
