1:55 That's all folks

That's it for Day 1B of the 2009 International Poker Open. We'll be back tomorrow morning ahead of play which starts at 12:00, when 151 players will battle it out for Ruairi Coy's crown and the $350,000 prizepool.

1:50 Chip count

We have reached the end of play here for the day! All chips are currently being bagged and tagged and we'll have all counts, as well as details of the payout structure online before the start of play tomorrow at 12!

1:45 Chop Chop

In the very last hand of the night, two French players, Douchin Kevinand Thomas Horion went head to head in a rollercoaster of a hand! Douchin held AK while Thomas held Queens. Both players were biting their nails as over 60k had found it's way into the middle, but it wasThomas whose heart was beating harder as he was the one at risk. The flop comes down 3-6-5 which is as good a flop you can hope to see with Queens. The turn is a seven. "Low!! Low!!" Thomas shouts. The dealer obliged by throwing a Four on the river. Split pot! Both players live to fight another day! (by Adam Murphy)

1:35 Breaking the Century

We're now hurtling down the finishing straight tonight and there's players falling by the wayside left, right and centre. We've just broken the 100 mark and the average stack is now 74,000. This is the last level of the night meaning we should all be done and dusted for 2am! (by Adam Murphy)

1:31 UnLuc-ky for Jean

Daniel Kemp decided that about 1:30am was his time to make a move. He went all in for 27,500 before the with 7 8 offsuit. Jean-Luc Telesfort was a willing caller with diamond_ace.gif diamond_5.gif. The hand was still up in the air after the flop as Daniel made 2 pair but Jean-Luc was on a straight draw. Daniel's two pair held up and it looks like he'll still be with us on Sunday

1:30 Andrew Can't Walk Away

Douchin Kevin just called upon the Poker Gods to smile brightly down on him by hitting a two outer on the river to reign in a massive pot. It was a limped pot and we saw three players to the Kd-4c-4h flop. It went check-check but then we had an unlucky lady push all-in for 11,200, not knowing the carnage that was about to ensue. The all-in was flat called by Andrew Patrick and after much deliberation Douchin Kevin came along for the ride too. We see the Jd on the turn and it goes check-check between the two remaining players. The river is the Ks and Andrew checks only to have Douchin shove all-in for 23.3k. Andrew slams the table in disgust before making a crying call with 4d-8d only to be shown the higher full house of Kevin that had suspected. Andy was left crippled by the hand and has since been eliminated.

01:10 Egan Wins Big

Paulo Almeida must've had itchy feet as he moved all in out of position with diamond_king.gif diamond_queen.gif. He picked the wong time to try to steal some blinds as he ran into Newryman, Stephen Egan and his AA. There were no dramas as the board was dealt and Stephen won the pot worth just shy of 100k.

00:51 108 Remain

With just 108 players left on day 1B it won't be long before the play is wrapping up... we'll be finished at 1:40am. If you need more updates after that, we'll be the guys at the bar drinking jagerbombs.

00:50 Back To The Farm

Well, not literally but self-confessed FarmTOWN addict Gillian Armstrong (and she was very specific about it being being FarmTown and not the more popular FarmVille) has just been turfed out after committing her last 30k with 55 only to run into KK. It didn't get much better than that and she bowes out with just over 110 players remaining. If it's of any consolation though, she can officially say she's Tony Baitson's better half having outlasted him by a country mile!

00:47 Renehan Still In The Hunt As Usual

There are certain players who always seem to have chips in the later stages of these huge field events. Jay Renehan can certainly class himself in that bracket. Displaying admirable patience he has nursed a short stack all day before finally catching some cards and chipping up to roughly 80k.

00:42 Bounty Takes The Bounty!

Mick McCloskey has been proudly donning the Sunderland jersey all day as part of the BoylePoker Sunderland Bounty promotion. Sitting just two seats away was Barry Carter, of PokerNews fame, who was also happily sweating away in his jersey for the past 10 hours. The carnage in this hand begun when Barry Carter raises only to find the player to his left shove all-in. With action to Mick McCloskey, he too shoves all-in. Barry is holding AK and decides he can't let it go and makes the call to find himself racing against two pairs - the JJ of Mick McCloskey and the 88 of the original shover. The flop comes down 7dTsTc which misses both players. The 9d on the turn means that Mick no longer has to dodge the remaining eights in the deck but now the remaining sixes are added to the equation. Mick is frozen solid as he has to sweat the overcards and the straight draw on the river but thankfully for his heart the river pairs the board with the 7c. Mick has both players covered which results in two eliminations as well as being able to boast of a stack upwards in the region of 100k, he can also boast of being able to take part in the Sunderland Bounty tournament!

00:40 Ger-onimo

Day1B--315.jpgGer Campion (pictured) has doubled up to 58k in chips. He was all in before the flop with 99 and after a great delay found 1 willing caller with pocket 8's. Ger took a deep breath and hoped there would be no surprises. In the end he improved his pair of 9's into a flush.

00:20 A few chip counts from around the tables.

Mick McCloskey 65k
Barry Carter 38k
Rob Cooke 60k
Gillian Armstrong 58k
Jesse May 90k
Cat O'Neill 68k
Paul Leckey 68k
Phil Godkin 71k

00:10 Follow the leaders

A few of the bigger stacks in play. Owen Mullan, a tough man to miss but something I managed to do quite convincingly has 174k. Our chip leader looks to be Nils Mazeaud who has now breached the 200k mark. Gavin Bolger is not far off with touching 160k while Kevin Hardiman and Cat O'Neill both look to have moved past the 100k mark as well. (by Sam Blaneham)

00:03 Bounty chip counts

Jesse May60,000
Cat O'Neill93,000
Mick McCloskey60,000
Barry Corker45,000
Paul Leckey 25,000

00:01 Case closed

Boylepoker affiliate Julia McKeel has just doubled up to 125k. J

23:50 Nice One Cyril

Day1B--308.jpgRory Liffey has just been knocked out of this year's event. Rory was having a difficult couple of hours which saw his skyscraper stack reduced to a multi-storey car park. Rory went all in pre-flop with QQ but was outdrawn by his opponent, Cyril Foissac (pictured), on AK. An Ace on the flop, followed by another on the turn meant that only a Queen was going to save Rory but there was no luck on the river for Liffey. Cyril moves to about 80,000 chips

23:30 Headlines for all the wrong reasons!

Rebecca McAdam who is more used to working the big European tournaments than playing them is our latest player to be eliminated!

Day1B-219cropped.jpgIn what was a bit of a one two combo she failed to get any significant action with two queens before picking up a suited Ace Jack. This time she found an enthusiastic caller who had a hand she really did not want to see in the form of Ace King. An ace on the flop changed nothing and we are down to 135. (by Sam Baneham)

23:20 Judge and Jury

Julia McKeel who runs a poker league in affiliation with Boylepoker has just won a huge three way all in pot. Holding the aces and with two all ins ahead of here all Julia could do was get her chips and hope the best hand held up. It did emphatically with both her opponents drawing dead on the turn. She has nearly 100k. (by Sam Baneham)

23:10 Time for your 11 O'Clock Update

Less than 3 hours of play left and we have just 153 players remaining. We look set to finish up with about the same number of players as Day 1A which is a turn for the books given the slow start that we got off to. The average stack is currently 43,000. We'll have a look out for some of the chipleaders over the next couple of minutes and report back with some counts. (by Adam Murphy)
