Well, after my decent recoveries on Monday and Tuesday, I wasn't too bothered on Wednesday when I was losing a bit. However, as the evening went on the hole kept getting deeper and deeper and deeper and deeper.
After frantically trying to dig myself out, the advice of many a school teacher came to me "John when you're in a hole stop digging". Went to bed down a nice $25k, lucky I bought the car last week!!!
Got a little unlucky at the start but the final pot I lost was when I got it in drawing dead in the 50/100 PLO for the $15k pot. It does sound quite horrific but not to bad when you consider $7,500 isn't even a buy-in in 50/100 and we were only 3 handed. I wasn't fully drawing dead, as I had two back door flush draws and two running quad draws (I generally hit these kinds of things, this time I lost the race).
Anyway, bottom 2 is hot soup v top set. I lost $5k yesterday as well, making this a $24k losing week. I knew this down-swing was coming, as I was fucking around for the last 10 days or so, completely lost my focus and discipline. Games were shite online and I wasn't arsed dropping down and playing 3/6 and 5/10, instead I just jumped into bad 25/50 and 50/100 PLO games to get my fill of action. Damage done, so where to now?
I'm off to Portugal for the EPT in 10 days, so I am just going to chill, play some 2/4 and a few tournies. Took yesterday off and booked flights to a few destinations and did some house keeping affairs, which were in a bit of a mess. I used to think that the top poker players who had a P.A (personnel assistant) were in bits, but I can start to see where they are coming from.
I am not suggesting for a second that I need one but if I travelled as much as they do and won as much, it would probably be justified. Not sure if I'm going to play the IPC. Off to Morocco on the 7th with IPC starting on the 11th, so I'll see how I get on out there. There doesn't seem to be too much loose money in Ireland at the moment. Not much value in small games, with everyone playing like their lives depended on it.
With the old health buzz craic (laying off the drink to Christmas); I'm avoiding the mother of all piss ups in Galway - probably a decent idea. Oh, if you have some spare time and like laughing at boggers, then check out Hardy Bucks on youtube. Ross Johnson pointed me in its direction. It's kind of like that Dan and Becks D4 piss-take, then they did one taking the piss out of skangers and now there's Hardy Bucks. Watched the 9 episodes in 2 days, they're only 10/15 mins long and had me in stitches for every minute!
