Beers and bracelets

23 May 2010 | Category: by: Andrew Grimason

I haven't been up to a huge amount lately, been grinding online quite a bit with bad results unfortunately. Still running pretty bad, but at least I feel I'm playing well, so it will turn soon enough I'm sure.

It's strange sometimes when you're running bad, you feel the whole table is out to get you. I was on a table like that the other day and every pot I entered, it seemed like I was gettin re raised.

Pretty funny coincidence (well possibly) then happened with the avatars. Anyone who plays on Boyles reading this, will know that the very impressive software (lol) lets you have a little picture by your name. I've always had the treasure chest as my one for no particular reason. The funny part was that the two avatars either side of me were Cannons! And the other two on the table were Pirate Ships! All directed firmly at me treasure! Gave me a chuckle anyway - as I got check raised relentlessly.

Other than that, I've just been enjoying beautiful British Columbia, self described as "The Greatest Place on Earth." It would be hard not to agree this week, the weather's just got nice here, and it truly is an incredible place. You have a city with beaches, beautiful seas and snow capped mountains in the background.

I had a bit of a 'this is what life's all about' moment the other day. It was a cracker of a day and the good thing about running bad is that you don't feel too guilty for not playing. My mates were at work and I was just chilling on the balcony in my boxers, sun shining, strummin' a pink guitar, slurping a cold one and listening to some cheesy journey tunes. Not a bad way to spend a Wednesday afternoon anyway.

I see Paul Spillane has picked his 5 Irish players to do well in the WSOP and it's a seriously impressive group. Think I'll make up my own 5 and have a side bet with him for the craic. I'm not arsed going into detail about the 5 I pick, or talk about the many others who I could pick, as there are so many good Irish players going, all with chance of a big score. I guess my main criteria are volume though, as the bet is a pure amount of dollars won bet.

Here are the five I'm going with: John O'Shea, Jude Ainsworth, Marty Smith, Eoghan O'Dea and Nick Heather. While we're on Nick Heather, have to say a huge well done to him on his sick $150k FTOPS win. Nick's been playing great stuff for ages and it was only a matter of time before he clicked a big one imo, so fair play to him. Also, I'll do the same as Paul, if anyone wants a bet leave us a comment and we can talk numbers.

Alright, not much else to do until Vegas, just gonna wash the wrists, gotta get em clean for all those shiny bracelets!!
