Blogging....

Well I've made my way to Vancouver for a year, via a few crazy weeks in South America, which will not be documented in detail here. So I thought I'd get an ol' blog going to keep in touch and to keep myself in touch too, as it's the first time I'll be playing poker full time.

I've always had college in the background before, and it certainly was in the background in the latter years. But now, I've only the poker to worry about, so I'll be putting in a lot more hours.

A pretty nice place is Vancouver, outrageously clean and stinking rich. First time I got here, I was walking along thinking "oh this must be the rich area"; about two weeks later I'm still walking thinking the same. We (we being me and three normy mates, although they are getting sicker by the day - unemployment seems to bring the degen out in everyone) got a sweet apartment for a month overlooking the waterfront and more importantly, the biggest casino in Vancouver - Edgewater.

Have wandered in a few times, mostly pissed which is such a treat as I'm generally not allowed in casinos pissed in Dublin anymore, for let's just say - miscellaneous reasons.... Played sober one night in a 5 5 10 PLO game which was a bit of value, although I lost about 1k.

Funny though, nearly everyone in the casino is Asian, I was the only non-Asian in the game. And when someone called the clock on someone, the whole table went nuts, everyone going crazy in Chinese with me just nodding along. So will probably bring the iPod for my next visit.

They have the Canadian Open next month, which I'm looking forward to. Generally not spoilt for choice with live tourneys over here, unlike home, but this one is 2500 CA$ which is a nice buy in, so if there are any degens coming over, let us know.

Speaking of live tournaments, cracking results from the lads at the WPT in Morocco, Johnny getting unlucky to finish 4th in the side, Reesy cashing in the Main and of course the Captain O'Dea leading the charge scooping a very impressive 2nd.

As for myself, the potting has been going really well, been running good and made the year target last week. So I've set a new one, and will be grinding very hard until the new year as the games are always good around this time. Even mention Christmas games to John and he'll probably come right there on the spot with excitement... So that's the plan with a good few messy weekends in between of course.
