I'm just starting to settle back into things at home again. I had a couple of days back in Belfast last week, then went to Newport in Wales for a golfing trip with Paul Spillane, Nicky Power, Julian Gardner and a few of Paul's mates from England.
We played three courses at the Celtic Manor resort, including the 2010 Ryder Cup course. The course itself was lovely, but I'd be lying if I said I enjoyed it. I played like a complete clown and shot about 60 over par, losing a small fortune in the process. I'm not sure how I managed to stop myself from throwing my clubs into the water.
I enjoyed the other two courses though and played them reasonably well, and it was still a great couple of days. In fairness, I did have a pretty good excuse for the bad round. Nicky Power kept me awake from about 4am the night before with the most horrendous snoring I've ever had to deal with. Much as I like the guy, I won't be staying on the same floor as him again, let alone the same room.
My last week in Oz was a little bit disappointing. We'd a couple of really good nights out in Melbourne before I flew up to Brisbane, but the weather in Queensland was pretty terrible while I was there. I had booked to stay on Lady Elliott Island for five days, but cut it short and left two days early because the weather was so bad. The first day was OK, but it was like a full-blown monsoon the next day, and there isn't much to do there when you can't go outside and the sea is too rough to swim in.
In hindsight, I should have stuck it out on the island, as I ended up going back to Brisbane and doing my brains online in one of the worst days I've had in ages. I played a lot higher than I should have, although in my defense, it was a really good table and I was pretty sick unlucky. I'm at home for a few weeks now, so I'm going to put a load of hours in online and try to grind it back in small cash games and SNGs.

I can empathise with you Marty.
On more than one occasion i've been very close to sleeping in the Hallway, next time i'm getting onto environmental health for noise pollution!
