Change of focus

20 March 2009 | Category: by: John O'Shea

With my next month dominated by big tournaments, I decided to switch my focus to online tournaments, (GUKPT London, Irish Open and EPT San Remo). I played 6 MTT tournaments on Wednesday, I had a 50% ft rate and a 33% win rate.

I don't play MTT tourneys that much online, so maybe someone could leave a comment and tell me what an unreal achievement that is, as I don't know if those stats are good or bad. To be honest one was a $300 freeze-out and although I only got 9 runners, it was in the MTT section so it STILL COUNTS. I got $1,300 for this.

I won a $30 re-buy, which paid $4,200 and then came 4th in the Boyle Poker $100 re-buy, which I got $2,200 for. I ended up scooping about $7k profit for the night. I also had my own sponsored pro event on Boylepoker which was on Wednesday. I got into a bit of trouble for slowing-rolling a guy in it, which was very funny - but very bad form by me. To my victim, I apologize!

On Thursday I grinded some 'Sit and Go' games and played some tournaments in the evening. I did pretty well in the SNG's, but played horrific in the tourneys - so ended up breaking even.

I played a Boards Boylepoker hu match against Fran Egan and played so bad I was beaten 2-0. Fran didn't have to get out of 2nd gear and if it was a boxing match, it would have been stopped after six hands.

The plan for the weekend is to chill. I'm playing the Boylepoker sponsored pro event tonight @ 8 p.m, which should be some fun, even if I do avoid slow-rolling anyone. I'm taking Saturday off to watch the rugger. Then I'll probably play the Sunday tournaments, before I set sail for London on Monday.

I have finalized the Hollaments challenge. The first 3-4 games will take place at the Irish open on the night of the Super Sat. Then 3-4 will happen online on Boylepoker, depending on how many we get through at IO. The final 3 will be held at the JP Masters. In the case that it's 5-5 after 10 matches, there will be a decider. There will be a loser!

Lol @ this.

John I know you're only fishing for compliments, but 50% FT rate is very, very decent. ;)

Yup, it's impressive. You smash crush and rape online MTTs, quite unsurprisingly.

I knew it was a mistake to beat you in the first Boards HU game. Now you'll just give up and all the others will have an easy time against you :)

Looking forward to the Hollaments grudge match. Now that will be gripping.
