Chilling in San Diego

16 July 2009 | Category: by: John O'Shea

Well I eventually got out of Las Vegas after a serious week of partying. My sanity was in tatters by the end. So many quality nights and some ridiculous stories but I think it's safer for myself and others that I abide by the rule that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

I won a few k in the end but it could have gone seriously wrong on the last night. My sister was in Vegas as she is doing a trip around the States, so I met up with her to give her a few dollars. However, there was a condition, I had to gamble with the $250 odd for 20 minutes, and she could have whatever I turned it into.

Good laugh seeing her sweating it out, she never gambled in her life but by the end she was well into it. After 20 minutes we were bang on even and she had the option to go. She opted for a few more spins and I quickly busted her money in two spins.

She had to go catch a flight so I said I'd win it back. Up to my room I went to get $5k out of the safe and headed for a black jack table. Well, I was either going to win my $300 back or do about $25k trying.

I lashed $400 down as a bit of profit would have to be made as well. Lost the first hand, doubled up to $800, drew an 11 v a dealer's 3, doubled down and won. So I made a cheeky $1k for my troubles.

Me, Donal O'Connor, O'D and Hali knocked up to Huntington beach for a few days and are now down in San Diego. Came in smashed the other night and decided to give William Thorsen a spin in 25/50 PLO. Got my chat banned within five minutes for abusing him, was worth it all the same as he seemed to tilt which was handy as I was so pissed I called him down with two or more every time. Got out winning $12k, nice to get the old week's wages even on your holidays.

Also putting in a small bit of time playing RAZZ and getting a few pointers off O'D; I'm losing money at the moment, but I am learning it at the 30/60 limit which is quite a big game. I don't really see the point in playing any lower as I just wont give a fuck about the money and learn nothing. I think it was Churchill who said something along the lines of "Play the game for more than you can afford to lose... only then will you learn the game".
