Well, I busted from the $10k PLO in level 8. I played really well and lost a series of flips after working hard to pick up chips. I had a few big names at my table including Tom McEvoy and Chris Ferguson, aka Jesus, whose PLO games were weak. There were 2 useful English players, Nick Persaud and a young kid called David, but both were to my right so my table was ideal. After working hard to get my stack up from 30k to 50k twice I lost flips to get me up to 70kish. Then I lost 2 more and I was gone.
I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to playing it next year if I am not bust. One particular pleasing point is how much more comfortable I was playing the $10k PLO this year. Made me notice how much my game has improved in 12 months which is encouraging. However at same I am still not in the top 15% of players in this event which means more improvement is needed.
Went for a few beers on Sunday night. Kicked off with a nice dinner with me, Reesy, Donal O' Connor, Van Dice, Multiplier and Reilly. Then on to New York New York for some more beers and gambling.
Chilled out and played a bit online today, picking up $4k ish. Went for dinner with Paddy O'Connor who had just got knocked out of $1,500 NLHE event in 9th place for the $80k scoop. A bitter sweet result as it was obviously unreal to make a final table but he lost a flip which would have put him in very good shape: going out in 9th is minging. Also well done to Padraig who was 14th for $45k odd in the $10k PLO, keeping up appearances for Boyles. So it appears after a slow start the Irish are starting to get going in WSOP 2009.
It's 10 days till the WSOP main event so off the booze till then and its all systems go. I have a Limit Omaha Hi Lo and a Pot Limit Omaha Hi Lo before I play a few warm up NLHE events.
Online is still going well and I picked up half my buy-in for the $10k PLO which means I am still about $35k still ahead for the trip.
