Death by missed flops

As you can probably guess by the fact that this post didn't appear first thing on Monday morning, sadly I didn't win the $1000 PLO at the weekend. I had a good crack at it, but busted out in standard PLO 52-48 fashion.

The tournament was incredibly deep to start with, 10k stacks and 10-20 blinds, so moving up to 12k within the first couple of levels was a decent effort. Unfortunately, from there it was a steady drain of death by missed flops and I have to admit, a few loose pre-flop calls when the blinds kicked up to around 75-150.

I was down to about 5500 when I found Aces, raised pre-flop, and then got it in against what turned out to be a 13-way straight draw. That one "held up" and by picking up AAxx at least three more times in quick succession I made my way back to around 13k at 250-500 blinds.

I can't give you all the details of the coup I was knocked out on because of iPoker's habit of breaking tables without letting you check hand histories (software note there), but I raised with KKTx pre-flop and was called in two spots. The flop came QJ3 and I got it in against what turned out to be AJ63 for two pair. I was unable to "outdraw" the two pair and that was the end of me in 41st. A shame because there was a decent overlay in the comp and I felt fairly comfortable thanks to the Omaha advice from Marty and Dave.

I did manage to cash in a PLO tournament on Full Tilt on the same night, but couldn't final table after losing a huge pot with AAxx against the other AAxx all in pre-flop! Welcome to Omaha :-)

So, I'm still feeling pretty good about the $400 ECOOP event on Saturday, see you there!
