Officially a 'High Roller'

28 January 2010 | Category: by: Andrew Grimason

Shipped the High Roller $500 on Boylepoker.com the other night for a juicy $13k. Delighted to get the title; I was just saying last week how long it had been since I won a tournament, so I was more than happy to take her home.

Have to give a quick 'ty' to Nick Heather as I wasn't planning on playing it until he told me it's great value. Also, a 'wd' to him for scooping the $50 rebuy, for $13k as well.

Nothing too exciting about the tourney itself, the bubble lasted for ages so the FT was pretty shallow. Won a few key pots with Unkown suit A Unkown suit A and Unkown suit J Unkown suit J, then got HU with some loony who had knocked out about half the field, mostly in creative fashion. He was just shipping 20+ big blinds HU, so I waited for the hands and thankfully they held up. Had a good week in cash too and I'm hoping this fine run can continue.

As for non degenerate activities, my week was good on that front too. Went to a Canucks' ice hockey game, well it wasn't totally gamble free, as I had some bets on to keep me interested. I was actually surprised at how much I liked it, it's so much better live than on TV.

So anyways, I booted up Boylesports.com just before I left and got involved on the three markets they had on the game. Canucks to win (@ 1/2), Canucks - 1.5 goals (@ 3/2), and finally over 5.5 goals in the game (@ 10/11).

The Canucks started pretty bad and went 2 - 1 down, but then boom they go on a hot streak and go into a 4 - 2 lead with a last minute goal. BINGO for me, as I'm scooping all three bets. The whole stadium (including the players) starts celebrating with 15 seconds left and of course, they go and concede with two seconds on the clock to screw me outta the chicken.

Had a quality night out then on Saturday, a couple of girls from home moved over a few weeks back and had us over to their new spot. It's amazing the difference in hosting from guys to girls. We got there and they were all ready with glasses, crisps (in bowls - v posh), treats and an outrageously big two litre bottle of Absolute vodka glistening on the table.

In comparison to a lads gaff, when ya turn up, one's in the shower, one's napping , one's polishing off some spag boll in his boxers waving towards the dirty dishes, for you to grab yourself a cup or pot to use.
