If you're not in... iPops Relevation (part II)

Boylepoker player, "veryunique", shares the second part of her unbelievable iPops experience.

That's where I really got it wrong. As they say in the Zen business, it's not really the thing itself that matters, but the way you look at it. It wasn't that bad, I had a few quid guaranteed and I was going on a free weekend to Prague. So I decided to forget that I had nearly won $15,000 (even if that was now the unofficial target) and Padraig and I went off to Prague, determined to enjoy ourselves, no matter what.

It started off pretty good, the hotel was very nice, and the town looked magical. Then again, it could have turned out very bad because the town seems a much better place for drink than for food, but we managed to survive the day. In the evening, we got invited to a welcome party organised by the iPoker people. It was great to meet Asaf and the girls, who were very friendly and helped us to sort out everything very efficiently. The party was nearly too good, but we managed to go to sleep at some stage.

The next day, I was very keen to play and was delighted to do so in a great spot, the Ambassador Casino in the centre of Prague. I loved the place, old-style with a lot of character, and I also loved the bubbly and cheerful Barbara, it's Sales Manager.

So that day, we went down from 27 to 9 players, which was very exciting, and we went to the bar of the casino, where there was an amazing atmosphere and we met great people, the likes of Alfie, who was also in the final, and Paula, his lovely girlfriend.

The next day, there was live streaming at the last table. It took me a good while to work out that even if there was no glass on the table, the cameras were able to film the cards. So I started to play better. It made it more exciting. It's not so much fun to run a big bluff when nobody ever knows about it is it?

Well, maybe I didn't play that much better, because shortly after, it all went wrong. I started off with good chips and ended up with 7 big blinds when we were still 9, after a huge bluff. It was over for me. That's the time my great English friend Katharine, who happened to be in Prague at the time, chose to arrive. I was gutted.

We were going to have a shopping day, and we wouldn't have an awful lot to spend! What the hell? But we didn't know that a miracle card on the river was going to save me from this mess.

After that I had nothing to lose. I was back from the dead. So I went for it, like it didn't matter because you can't die twice, can you? And I ended up way above all hopes, as I finished 2nd to Tomas Mittel, a Swedish player, after a great battle and got my biggest win ever, $55,000.

So, to sum up this long story, I got talked into playing an event I didn't intend to play. Nearly lost at the very start. Made it to the last 27 thinking I'd won $15,000. Got pissed off I didn't. Went to Prague. Had a great time. Was nearly dead again when we were down to 9. Came back home with $55,000.

So, what's the moral of the story?

If you stay at home, don't listen to anybody, don't look at all the opportunities going on around you, nothing is going to happen to you.
If Ciaran, from Boylepoker, and Padraig hadn't told me about that great thing called the iPOPS, nothing would have happened. And I thank them very much for that.

If you're not in, you can't win.
