Things have been fairly quiet for me by Vegas standards this year. Since the 10k PLO, I've played a $1,500 Omaha Hi Lo event, and a $1,500 NLH event, both of which didn't go terribly well, despite a Poker Million-style comeback from 100 chips in the NL event. I lost a big pot with QQ v AA that left me with 100 when the blinds were 75-150, and managed to fluke my way back up to 4200 before busting out on a 50-50 hand.
Apart from tournaments, I've played a few single table satellites in which I'm ahead a small amount. I haven't bothered playing any cash at all yet, and I'm not sure if I will. Even though I've won a little bit on cash the last few years, I've never felt the games were much value.
Aside from poker I've been playing a lot of golf with Paul Spillane who now owns 2% of my main event action from the side bets we've had (it was 5% at one point). We've had a couple of good nights out too but nothing too messy yet and overall it's been pretty tame compared to last year.
Despite Vegas being a little bit disappointing so far, poker wise, I do have one bit of good news. Boylepoker have just announced that they will again be sponsoring the IPO at the Regency this autumn. The event will take place from Oct 16th to 18th, and I'm already really looking forward to it.
We are very lucky in Ireland to have several poker events over the year that compare with the best in the world in terms of organisation, standard of play, and atmosphere around the event. I know how much I enjoyed the whole IPO experience last year, not just the tournament itself, but also the craic over the weekend, and everyone that I spoke to afterwards reported a similar view.
The IPO is truly a unique event, in that it allows poker players the chance to compete in a tournament with a structure similar to the biggest tournaments around, but for an entry fee that everyone can afford, and despite the small buy in the standard of play is still surprisingly high. Last year's tournament was the biggest field ever assembled in Europe and the aim is to hit the same number this year. Judging by the popularity of the last one, that shouldn't be a problem.
As I write this I'm about to leave for the Rio, to play the first day of the WSOP main event, so hopefully I'll have some more good news in my next blog.

thanks... despite reports on some sites that i busted out, i'm pretty sure that i got through to day 2 with 46k
