My WSOP picks

22 May 2010 | Category: by: Nicky Power

My WSOP fantasy league picks are fairly unoriginal. I've chosen players that play all games and specialise to some extent in the less popular variants of poker. This means that the average field size they play will be a lot smaller than their counterparts, who just play NLH or PLO.

1: Phil Ivey
I'd imagine Phil would be in 99% of people's entries and for good reason. Phil the 'Phenomenon' can have another great series and is probably very short to claim at least one bracelet.

2: Brock Parker
A limit hold'em specialist; Parker made a big impression last year. I watched his two final tables and he impressed immensely.

3: Vitaly Lunkin
What a year this guy had in 2009, including a win in the $40k NLH, a second in the $10k PLO and 4th place in the $50k horse. He seems to tick all the boxes.

4: Daniel Negreanu
Two close calls last year with a second and a fourth, Daniel seems a safe bet to pick up some points. Like Phil, I'd say Daniel will feature in most teams but leaving him out probably means losing ground to the field.

5: Jeff Lisandro

Stud poker player extraordinaire, Lisandro owned his area of expertise last year wining an unrivalled three bracelets. Jeff is no one trick pony and will mix it up with the best of them in any brand of poker. I expect another big year from this one.
