Just got into NYC for Christmas, spending it here with my bro and family so it should be a nice wholesome time. Then Vegas for some debauchery for the New Year, there are nine of us going, it'll be some laugh.
Don't intend to play any hands until the New Year, although the sickness will probably catch me for a night or two. I'm off to the Bahamas after that for the PCA, I won't be playing the Main Event, it's a bit steep and the standard will probably be very high.
There are more Omaha tourneys than ya hear POT being shouted on a Friday night in the Jackpot though. So I intend on giving them a good go, the highlights being the $5k PLO eight handed and the $2k PLO HU (that's heads up - for the people who have other interests than potting and two people on each table - for the people who don't have a scooby doo).
I'm really looking forward to the HU one, been playing quite a bit HU cash online and really like the battle. The one thing that's really annoying is the hit n runners - does my head in. I had a thought that they should have cash tables with a minimum amount of hands. Like once you sit down you have to play a minimum of 100 hands or something, not sure if it would work really and sorta goes against the idea of cash games, but I'd definitely like them.
My mate then politely informed me the other day, when I was celebrating a cheeky hit n run in a 25 50 PLO, that I was a hypocrite. He was right of course, so I guess it's just part of the game.
In my last blog I mentioned BigMickG and sure didn't he only go and FT Galway then. Great result for him and great to see Padraig Parkinson scoop the trophy. Also, fair play to Parky and Paul Marrow for donating so much to charity.
On the non poker side of things, we had a great night out in Santa suits last week. It was a pub crawl where everyone dressed up, there must have been about a 100 Santas at the start. It was for some charity, I'm not so sure which, I was just saying 'it's for the kids' which seemed to go down well.
By the end of course, it was just the Irish lads left creeping around the club, a hilarious site really, just splashes of red here and there. Saw one of the lads getting kicked out and the bouncer comes over to us ...... 'nah were not with him'.
Finally, if ya haven't done it already, potting to Christmas songs is a must, definitely gives you an edge. Alright, happy Christmas and all that, try not to pot too much. I remember last year there was a freeroll with 10,000 runners, how ill (fills up early so reg before the turkey imo).
