Ohh, Multi! Multi!!!

Multi... Multi... Multi... Multiplier!!! First off a huge well done to Peter "The Multiplier" Murphy who ft'd the Irish Open Main Event, and was sick unlucky not to go deeper.

Still, it was a great achievement and a nice €56k score. Also well done to Paul Carr who fought like a champ and was so unlucky not to scoop first place and keep the trophy in Ireland.

As for me, the IO was a bit of a slog and a disappointing weekend poker-wise. I actually ran up a good stack of 30k early on, when I flopped a set of KK vs. the AA of some Swedish name who won the EPT Denmark. He opened UTG and I just peeled UTG + 1. Then flopped bingo K98 which we got it in on the turn. There was some 888 pro on my table who seemed to be good and aggro, so I 4-bet shoved the K5 into his kingers and despite turning a double gutter he held.

So it was safe to say my rep had gone to shit and combined with having no cards made the rest of the day a real struggle, got out with 15k in the end. Nothing exciting in day two, shipped KQ of puppy feet into AJ and he held.

I played the PLO the next day and ended up nearly bubbling, coming 21st with 16 places paid, frustrating stuff altogether, as I got it in good shape. Played an hours cash all weekend, in what was probably the worst live cash game that ever ran in Ireland. It was three way with Marc Reilly and an American guy who turned out to be Richard Austin (he won the WSOP 5k PLO and FT'd the 10k PLO last year.)

It was my birthday and I was just waiting to start boozing so when 7 o'clock came round we decided to play the last hand blind. I took off €200 for the bar and we put €400 in each. Austin shows why he wins everything with a well timed slow-roll with clubs vs Reilly's slow-roll with the straight. (slow-rolling was obv encouraged).

After that it was basically just a boozy weekend. Monday was one of the funniest days ever. After Pete got knocked out we hit the bar hard. We had a great bet on the National; you flip a coin for odds or evens and then pay the SP on the horse that wins. Great craic roaring for odd number horses when you're free-rolling with the top three horses being odd. Ended up being a 25/1 shot and Jim (van dice) had to ship me €250 euro, nice to win a bet off him, not many can say they have.

We then got a good blind man's poker game running, so much fun and actually quite a bit of skill in it. It's played by everyone putting there hand on their head, so you can see everyone else's cards bar your own. The highlight was Jim folding the Aces and O'Dea calling it off into AK on a K high board twice.

Everyone was in great form in the bar, had good craic with JP who was relentlessly buying jager bombs. They called for last orders and JP's last shout was for 30 Jagers. He was eventually talked down to 6 and considering most had already left in fear, it was still a healthy order. The sooner he's made TD for the Main Event the better, runs a great ship and a top bloke.

The night then ended up with Tom Kitt whipping out the guitar and playing a man of the match performance with some hilarious rhymes. My personal favourite was when the eventual winner wandered over; he apparently had only 28% of himself. Tom then comes out with this blinder of "Oh Jamsey Jamsey, he looks like an elf, had 20 percent of himself, walking in a Jamsie wonderland." Everyone erupts laughing and he just wandered off with his head down - unbelievable scenes.

You just can't beat the IO, the poker goes terrible and I still had a great weekend, already looking forward to next year. I've pretty much been in bed since that, sick as a dog. Missed my flight back to Canada, so I think I'm going go to Vegas for some nice PLO tourneys with John, Adam and Halibut. One last thing to mention is that I did an interview for Irish Poker Radio, not the worst considering how hung-over I was when I did it.
