On monkey tilt

I played the $2700 BC championship on Thursday and didn't last too long. Some clown got moved to my table, and I doubled through him to get back to starting stack. The hand was pretty funny actually.

I raised the button to 400 with JJ, he re-popped to 950 from small blind, which I called. The dealer then took in the chips, and was about to deal the flop when he announces '1600', and puts out the chips. He then notices the flop hasn't been dealt. I enquired "are you betting every flop then?" His reply was a fumbled "no, well maybe, ye I guess". I lol'd as the flop came J high with the two clubs and re-shipped in my 7k ish. I was certain I'd got ahead of his AA or KK, but he actually had , which led for a lovely club turn and pairing up river.

A few hands later and we were tangling again. I'd thought I'd trapped the fishy, when he called my shove. I had on a 4h8h9x10x board but unfortunately I was the one drawing to one out versus his . He kindly let me know that he owed me one after I got lucky with my JJ.

The next bit of pain came on the Friday, which was just continuous doggings that amounted to a lovely $10k day. Lost most to some crazy guy who was admittedly playing drunk.

The final and definitely the most tilting day, was today. I try not to get pissed off anymore with poker and I've got pretty good at this skill, I think. I was still happy with how I played on Friday but it just wasn't my day.

Today was ill though. My connection has been grand in general but today it was acting up a little. So when this absolute fish was in the 5-10, I had to get involved. The first disconnection came when I had 3 bet with AAK5 ds, and he 4 bet me too 450 playing 2500. I have no doubt we would've got the 2500 each in pre, as I had him covered.

So that was pretty sick but then something even worse happens. I play a pot with a good regular, he check raises me on a 2 7 10 rainbow board and I called with KK910. I know he's good enough to CR this with air and of course big hands eg sets. So I called and 'Howareya' the bingo K turn, and he leads pot bet for 600. I go to click report, which is 2400 with us playing over 3k each and then BOOM the connection goes. Logged back in and he said he had and would've called the re-ship. So that was v painful indeed. FML etc.

The only good thing about running bad etc, is that you have an extra excuse to get extra pissed. I generally don't need encouragement but I certainly took note of it last weekend.

The weather has been really shit over here. They say that all it does in Ireland is rain; well Ireland's got nothing on Vancouver when it comes to rain. The good part about Vancouver weather is that there's ski slopes within 30 mins of downtown. So we took advantage of that and went snowboarding on Saturday, then had a pretty crazy night out in a place called Ceili's which is like a mini version of Coppers.

So I guess I shouldn't complain, poker's been very good to me. Even with the downswing it doesn't really effect my life in terms of what I do. I was pissed off for about an hour on Friday, then a few mates came over and we cracked some beers and it really didn't matter if I'd just won or lost.

I was still going to be doing the same thing that night. Later was a good LOL though when a mate started talking to me about his 1$ SNG's, I always try to be friendly and give people advice but at 12pm in a club on a Friday I wasn't too interested. I ended up just saying I'll buy you a drink if we can change the subject.

Anyways, fair play to Johnny who has only gone and scooped TWO PCA packages. He was saying that PCA packages are like buses, two come at once. Well, they've certainly been like Dublin buses for me; I've been waiting at the stop for three fucking years now and one still hasn't come!

The other thing of note is the ECOOP, which has begun. I plan on playing a good few of them, the highlight being the 1k PLO on Saturday which I'm looking forward to. I saw the 'Multiplier' cashed in the first one; you just can't stop that man from multiplying, so hopefully I can get a run at one of them too...
