Been pretty quiet on the poker front for me since the Irish Open but I am playing the UKIPT Brighton Main Event - Day 1B this Friday. I'll be providing updates at the event by Twitter. It's my last event from the BOSP 2 fund, so hopefully I can make it a profitable one!!
I have, as usual, been following the WSOP with interest and a little jealousy. "Hopefully next year!" but I seem to say that every year. I have actually played 2 WSOP events - a circuit even at Caesar's Palace in 2007 and WSOPE in London in 2008 but the "real thing" has still alluded me and is definitely top of my "before I die" list.
Been very busy at work lately - it is very difficult juggling a "real" job and a demanding (and very rewarding) young family. When not at work, I seem to have spent most of my spare time watching my youngest son play football. He worships John Terry and it was pretty difficult explaining to a 7-year-old why he wasn't England captain anymore!!
Supporting my son at football included staying over two nights in Blackpool for a tournament. Our team was allocated a bed and breakfast which agonizingly for me was literally 20 yards away from G Casino. Before you ask - no I didn't!
Regular readers may be wondering about my mate (Chris) Salmon. Well he has now decided to double the amount of opportunities for humorous plays on his name by taking up fishing, as well as poker. He bought lots of professional gear on eBay and now spends most of his spare time on the banks of various local canals.
I won't dwell long on the World Cup (let's face it my team didn't either) and I managed to avoid getting sucked into most of the "Fantasy World Cup" games, as they can take over your life. The only one I entered was tremendous value - NOT. A well known sports book attached to a well known poker site (not Boyles - they wouldn't insult our intelligence like this) offered $100 million for the winner providing that (this is the ever so slight catch) you correctly guessed ALL 64 scores - that's scores not results. The fact that they were allowed to advertise this reward prominently in posters is a joke.
Great to see Nicky Power still going in WSOP Main Event - if anyone deserves to go deep this year it's Nicky - Good luck mate!

thanks Darren, best of luck in brighton m8, hopefully we can do the double :-)
