I see the office blog has taken a back seat now that Paul is on holidays and not standing over the team with a big stick - personally I think it's time Ciaran made a post... maybe he could reflect on whether or not he has any regrets about the move he pulled in Cork last weekend?
To be honest, I haven't much to report myself. This is the first full week I've spent at home in ages and it's been a welcome break. After winning a golf bet by shooting 92 on an easy course in Las Vegas, I have another bet (with the same person) that I can't do it (on a par 70 or above course) over here, so I've been taking advantage of any break in the rain to get out on the golf course and give myself a chance.
Unfortunately at the minute it would appear that he has got the better of me, as my best post-Vegas score is 107... might be time for another lesson.
I've also started playing online again. I'd had a tough time online for a while before I went to Vegas, so I've started back at smaller stakes than I had been playing. The standard online has come on a lot over the last year or two though and even at 5-10 I'm not having things all my own way. Still though, I'm ahead a few grand over the few sessions that I have played and if I can grind out any sort of profit at all and get a few winning months under my belt it'll give me a bit of confidence.
Tonight and tomorrow I'm going to be playing two 'bounty' tournaments for the Boylepoker "Scalp the Champ" promotion - NL Holdem tonight, and pot-limit Omaha tomorrow, where the added prize for knocking me out will be an IPO ticket for the Wednesday tournament, and a V.I.P package to the IPO on the Thursday. They're both small rebuy tournaments and I fully intend to have as many rebuys as it takes to get a big stack together, so be prepared for a bumpy ride if you are on my table for the first hour.
Finally, thanks to Ken Corkery and the Macau club in Cork who organised a great week of poker at their festival, and a big well done to Nicky Power and Robbie Taylor, who were both involved in splitting the main event.
Robbie went on to take the title, although anyone who knows Rob will know that he actually enjoys telling bad beat stories more than he enjoys winning trophies, so this victory will be bitter-sweet for him.
