Over the last few days I have played very little poker. I've mainly been chilling out and trying to get myself rested and re-focused for what is going to be a very busy month. Pretty soon I'll be getting stuck into a bit of poker and the month will end with the biggest tournament of all, the WSOP.
In ten days I fly to Vegas to play approx $50k worth of tournaments. I'm using the ECOOP, which is running on Boylepoker at the moment, as a mock rehearsal. Tonight is the start of the bigger buy-in tournaments in the ECOOP and I plan to play most, if not all of the remaining 10 tournaments.
I'm pretty happy with where my game is at the moment, I have improved vastly is some areas. When you hear about people talk about best poker players in the world, the name Phil Ivey is usually mentioned. The reason why most informed people put Phil's name forward, is not because he can make moves or reads that no one else can do, but because he brings his A game to the table more often and can sustain it longer than anyone else. I think the same can be said about Patrick.
The challenge for me over the next 40 days is to be able to play well consistently over that period.
I know there will be good days and bad days, however I must remain level headed through it all, if I am going to achieve the best possible outcome for myself. Of course it's easier said than done, but I'm confident the experience I have acquired in my first year of full-time poker will stand to me.
Anyway tonight is the first night of 25ish tournaments which will span over 40 days and cost me $65kish. I'll put a little note at the end of each blog until the end of the WSOP, with how many tournaments played and a P&L.
From the small bit I have played this week I think I am up about $3k, which is a nice old change.

Gl in all your tourneys. You're not the first man to do 40 days and nights of penance!
