The Old Enemy

27 February 2009 | Category: by: John O'Shea

I was suffering from a rough weekend, so didn't really fancy too much grinding on Monday. I had planned on giving the Boylepoker 'Cash Race Level 3' a run for its money, so I decided to wait till 7p.m to get grinding.

I had about an hour at 4p.m, until I was going for a run at 5, so I regged for a few turbo $200 sng's. I used to play these on a regular basis and it was nice to see my old enemy Rob Taylor featuring in a few of the games. We got hu in one, which he won. As soon as he had won, of course my MSN alert began to flash.

Rob: Is your sharkscope still ahead of mine?
John: obv not, but my bankroll is
Rob: wp

With Taylor having been put back in his place, I got him hu in the next game and gave him a good old beating! Now I'm looking forward to meeting him in the Boylepoker Boards hu league, if I lose I will be retiring from poker.

So I went for the jog which I had planned and came back to my favourite dinner - a nice bit of lasagna. The Boylepoker hand race counts hands raked from 7p.m to 11p.m daily, so I was planning on a 4ish hour session. Everything was going grand until about 45 minutes in. I was winning a small bit, when I lost a 5k pot to a 3 outer all in on the flop. From there I lost every pot I played until my account was dry. I had $8k in the account and was up about $1k, so did about $9k in through no fault of my own (debatable) in about 45 minutes. I didn't really mind too much so I called it a night, down about $6k as won $2k elsewhere.

When I got up on Tuesday morning I had a few errands to run, so headed into town. I also decided to meet up with some of my old KPMG buddies, after last night losses, I knew this would be sure to cheer me up. However bad poker can get, it comes no where near grinding it out in an accounting office.

I lodged some money back into my Boylepoker account. I've never really kept a huge amount on Boylepoker, because I don't like doing more than $10kish in a night and it's so easy to get cash on the site.

The recent winner on EPT Copenhagen Jeansss89 was in a generous mood, given his recent win and shipped me a couple of $2k buy-ins in 10/20. So I won $10kish on Boylepoker that night, but $4k else where, so I'm level for the last 2 days.

I'm playing under the screen name doesalrite on Boylepoker and I'm 1k hands behind in the hands race. Hopefully I get this down to less than 500 by the end of the week!
