What a pack of yanks - PCA Part II

16 January 2010 | Category: by: Andrew Grimason

Ran pretty awful in the $5k PLO which was a pretty steep buy-in but the standard was very soft, so was a pity I couldn't get going. The most horrific was the tag team I played with Tony Rafter.

I managed to get it in on the first level with a top set against AAAJ with no draw, of course he binged the one outer. The guy was some cocky yank, lol'ing away with his mates. Thankfully it was me instead of Tony at the table; god knows what he would have done.

A lot of the younger American guys really do your head in over here, all these war craft nerds with huge egos and no social skills. It was pretty funny. One day this guy came over to my table talking to his mate how some donkey just dogged him. The donkey was following him over saying, 'Ah come on, you know I'm only gambling in PLO'.

The guy wasn't too interested, so then the Donkey started to reel off his screen names, when the guy turns around and says, "I couldn't give a fuck if you're 'JohnnySmokes123', just fuck off." Your man then shuffled away with his head down.

On a similar note, the WSOP champ Joe Cada was bopping about, apparently he was banging the playboy playmate who was opening the Stars party. Someone was saying that maybe she was with him before he won the WSOP (obv a girl). Ah yeah, she was really interested in him when he was a nobody, grinding in his mums basement. I suppose she just happened to be seen with him when he's $8 million richer and the centre of attention. MBN to be the champ.

There was some serious girls strutting around the cardroom and resort. The ladies event was like a 'models only' tourney. Myself and Johnny were down at the pool one day, when this stunner walked by. We were discussing how it's just not fair to terrorise us like that, when I said something like 'She's a super model'. He was arguing that they're not generally that hot, they're usually too skinny and tall. I said 'Yeah well, she's a bit of a rake' and John started to giggle. I was wondering why that was funny but a few minutes later we found out. He'd thought I'd said, 'She's a bit of a rape', as in she's worthy of a rape I guess or whatever was going on in that sicko's head.

Speaking of the man, fair play to Johnny for cashing in the PCA Main Event for $20k. It was probably the most I've been impressed by him in a tourney. He was below average for the whole thing pretty much and didn't lose patience. He turned down marginal gambles without losing the balls to make the moves. I don't think he would have made the money in that tourney this time last year, so fair play on the cash.

God, this is some long rambling of a blog, might even have to get Lisa to work her magic and separate it into two, then I'll know I've made it in the blogging world! Ok, to summarise I grinded my bollix off live and lost little over 10k. Played a few hours online and won a little over 10k. So overall I ended up a little ahead for the trip.

Finally, I have to mention a convo I had with my good mate Conor who lives on the Redwood (my road from home). He was asking me how Canada was and I informed him I was in the Bahamas when he came out with this gem. "THE BAHAMAS, WHAT THE FUCK! I'M HERE PLOUGHING SNOW OFF THE PAVEMENTS, KEEPING THE REDWOOD SAFE AND YOU'RE IN THE FUCKING BAHAMAS".
