It got a bit messy for me on Saturday night after watching the boxing with my mate Jez. I had a few beers with Nicky, a few other guys who were out, Marty and "the little fella", and also John Weafer whom I had met at the BOSP final.
John "persuaded" me to accompany him and a few others to someone's house "thirty yards" away for a few more beers. It turned out to be quite a way out and for some unknown reason Chufty ended up with us, so at least I wasn't the only Englishman.
Anyway, last thing I remember is trying some green liquid offered to me by John O'Shea. I woke up several hours later covered in blue war paint with the word "Poker" on my forehead. Nice touch.
Now this would have been very funny other than the fact that I missed my scheduled plane home and therefore missed my youngest son's 8th birthday party. Not good, particularly from a 43 year old who should know better.
Anyhow, apologies for anything I might have said before falling asleep - I seem to remember slagging off O'Sheas blog to the man himself (something like "won 40K, lost 40K, blah blah blah"), and apologies to Sam for missing his party.
However, the poker part of the weekend was excellent and I really hope to make it back again somehow. The fund has nearly run out - just one more decent event left so let's hope I end on a bang.
I have made 3 out of 4 Day 2s in big events, had one cash and finished in the top 15% at the Irish Open at my first attempt. I have also really improved as a player in terms of experience gained, which should help me in the future.
More importantly I have met some really nice people at the tournaments including all of the Boylepker team and also met and played with some of my heroes. Not bad for a few euros!

Sorry to hear you missed your flight Darren, those booze up at the Irish Open are all to easy to get caught up in m8. Best advice is to evacuate the bar when O'Shea's there after 2 am, going to a party with the fecker is a fatal error. We live and learn! catch up soon.
