A look back at April

05 May 2009 | Category: by: Paul Spillane

April was a good month in many ways other than as written before - we didn't get the Irish Open winner. To be fair, we barely had a player make day 2 so we knew our fate early on. It seems these new logos are not as lucky as the last lot; I might have to send them back! It wasn't just in Dublin were we got let down; we also sent a player to Salzburg after he won a satellite but again came back empty handed.

Any football fans out there had a promotion tailored to their needs with our Champions League Tournament. For $1 you and a friend could be at the Stadio Olimpico on May 27 - promise to take me with you and I might change the settings on your doomsday switch!

April also saw Neil Channing launch Blackbelt poker and use our site whilst his is being built. I've known Neil a looooong time and I know how excited he is to finally get this project off the ground, leaving him free to go back to his normal job of gracing poker magazine covers. Good luck to everyone involved in this exciting new project.

More attentive viewers will have noticed we have a number of WSOP markets up. We have already taken a few chunky bets from some pretty savvy punters (as well as from Jesse and Padraig). I think these are great fun for poker players who want a bit of interest in the whole series.

We have more than a little WSOP theme at the moment with satellites running, the betting and the WSOP fantasy pool. The fantasy pool is free to enter and was introduced because we saw a poker site run it last year and we thought it was great fun. We all entered and after about a week of events I was winning the thing but it proved to be a false dawn as usual.

April of course saw the launch of the Boylepoker sponsored radio show and what a start it was. The first 10 minutes of our new live venture was a mixture of elevator music and technical balls ups, but when it did get going it was everything we had hoped for and a little bit more.

The guests have been incredible, Skalie, Dr Pauly, Dan Harrington, Mike Sexton, Neil Channing, Roland De Wolfe, Mad Marty, Barny Boatman, Phil Hellmuth, Jeff Duvall, Kirsty Thompson, Liam Flood, Kara Scott, Donnacha O'Dea, Kevin O'Connell, Nicky Power, Simon Trumper, Phil Laak, John O'Shea, Scott Gray, Ian Frazer, John Duthie, Tom Dwan, Vicky Coren, Nic Persuad and of course star man and star fan Don from Saskatchewan.

Other big names are lined up to be on, but it's not a show just for the big names; it's a radio show and you the listener is every bit as important so get calling now!

And balance the star quotient on the show.

Glad to be able to balance the book for you!
