Boylepoker IPO: Ireland's WSOP?

10 July 2008 | Category: by: Lisa Condon

Whilst the boss is living it up in Las Vegas, schmoozing famous poker players, entertaining hot women and generally having a laugh, all on the Boylepoker expense account, the rest of us mere mortals in the poker team  are here slogging away. Life just isn't fair, as Bill Gates recently told High school children... or did he? Who cares?

Although we're all still excited about Marty's win, and looking forward to him coming back so we can bask in the reflected glory, the WSOP is Paul's gig and I wanted a bit of my own excitement to make me feel important.

Step forward, the Boylepoker International Poker Open, taking place in Dublin from the 17th to the 19th of October. Outside of Vegas (Las Vegas, why must you torment me) this will be the world's biggest poker tournament: we're expecting over 1200 players for the main event. And this is not out of anyone's price range, at only €135 + €15 reg. With 40 minute blinds and 10,000 chips you get a lot of play for your money. The one reason I'm not happy I'm working it? I can't play it and take down the €35,000+ 1st prize. I'd be bitter if Boylepoker didn't pay me so much!

Last year the International Poker Open saw 1072 players from all over Europe attempt to win the title, with Colm King taking it down after a gruelling two days' play. Boylepoker are sponsoring the IPO this year, and we're raising the bar in every way: more players; money added to the prize pool; all professional dealers; side events to suit everyone; and a great venue. The event will be held in the Regency Airport Hotel just outside Dublin city centre.

Check out all the details here. To register just go to the scheduled tournaments tab in the Boylepoker lobby. Could it be any easier?

Look forward to seeing you there. I'll be the one polishing the floors and hoovering the carpets: the boss will be at the bar draining the Boylepoker expense account.
