The hustler or just been hustled?

Last weekend I avoided the card rooms, the computer and the Deepstack tournament, and ventured to the big smoke to meet an old friend. I got off the bus in Dublin city centre and went straight into Fibber Magee's bar, which happens to be directly opposite the bus stop. Andrew joined me shortly after and we had good fun catching up on old times, between those awkward silences that occur when you haven't seen someone for years.

As the night got longer the silences got shorter and the drinks got stronger. Soon we were chatting away to the people at the next table and I mentioned that I worked for an online poker company. One of the guys mentioned that he played a bit and I made myself out as a bit of a prodigy. This backfired when someone pulled out a deck of cards and asked me to put my money where my mouth was. Full of bravado I threw all my cash on the table along with my pride (luckily it was towards the end of the evening, so neither amounted to much). Fifteen minutes later I was slumped in the corner muttering about coinflips. On the upside, the gallant (yet smug) gentlemen insisted on paying for my drinks from that point on, so perhaps it wasn't me who got hustled after all!
