Boylepoker.com pro John "doesalrite" O'Shea completed a remarkable double last night, successfully defending his European Championship of Online Poker (ECOOP) pot-limit Omaha hi-lo title.
O'Shea's achievement mirrors that of Thang Luu who has just won the $1,500 pot-limit Omaha hi-lo event at the World Series of Poker for the second year in a row.
O'Shea took down $25,000, the same as last year, for his odds-defying win. Four Boylepoker online players had a 15 percent slice of the action having placed first (5%), second (3%), and third (2%) and knocking O'Shea out of a special bounty tournament (5%) the night before O'Shea's improbable victory. They collected $3,750.
To celebrate his win Boylepoker.com will host a $15 + $1 no-limit hold'em freezeout this Sunday, June 7 at 8 p.m. with an additional $1,500 added to the prize pool.
O'Shea's feat marks a triumvirate of spectacular victories for Boylepoker pros over the last few months.
In December 2008 Marty Smyth won the Poker Million and Boylepoker player "mmcgenius" freerolled his way to $10,000 on the back of Smyth's victory as 50 players shared 5 percent of his $1 million payday.
In April 2009 Peter Murphy successfully completed the Multiplier Challenge where he turned $100 to $10,000 in just nine weeks.
Last summer O'Shea came fifth in the World Series of Poker $2,500 no-limit hold'em event in Las Vegas.
