One of modern poker's biggest mysteries was solved today, as the identity of high-stakes phenomenon "Islidur1' was unveiled to the world.
Speculation has been rife on internet forums and magazines as to who the identity of the mystery Scandinavian was. Rumours have included Todd Brunson, Jonas Danielsson and Irish soccer legend Phil Babb.
The general consensus was that it was Viktor Blom, a 20-year-old from Sweden who had been playing high stakes games on iPoker. All this conjecture and rumour was finally put to bed today as it was revealed that Irish poker circuit regular Niklas "Nicky" Power is the mystery Swede.
Niklas "Nicky" Power is a 40-year-old poker pro from Sweden, who moved to Ireland in the late eighties and currently resides in Waterford. Power started playing poker under the screen name of "GoldieLocks" on the iPoker network.
Power is alleged to have deposited €2,000 and ran it up to $1.5 million in two weeks, with his hyper-aggressive style. He was 38 when he made his first online deposit - just two years ago - and was nominated in the Scandinavian Poker Awards for rookie of the year in 1978.
When asked why he decided to reveal himself Power said, "Well, I couldn't let that Blom fella get all the credit, so I decided to reveal myself to the word." Nicky is expected to make an appearance at the Irish Open this weekend wearing the badge of his sponsors Boylepoker.com.
