Tilt inducement

20 February 2009 | Category: by: Peter Murphy

On Friday night I went to play live and played right through till about 10 or so in the morning, after which I went home and fired up Boylepoker and started to get busy.

I played some STTs and in the first seven I failed to cash and I was only close to cashing in one of them, I then managed to win one and break the losing streak. I ended up pretty much level for the day.

I had one very sick hand on Sunday, the first hand of a STT, KK v KK v AA. I had one of the KKs and we got it in three ways as I am not good enough to fold KK even on level one of these STTs.

Later on in one of the STTs I had a massive chip lead with five left and the blinds were getting pretty high, I got it in with QQ v 77 v 44. I turn a set and they both hit a flush on the river, the next hand I call a push with AJcc v A5 and he river trips and I end up going out in fourth place, which was pretty sick.

To end the night I played a $5 MTT with 699 runners - made the money without any real controversy, but I was very tired at this stage and really needed to sleep. I had registered for a few more tournaments but had to unreg as I couldn't stay awake for much longer. When we were in the money I shoved over a raise from sb with a 5Jdd and bb wakes up with TT and it's good night to me. I didn't have much luck in the STTs either and ended the night with 450ish and went to bed early.

On Monday when I got up I played a few STTs, which went pretty poorly, so I decided to give some MTTs a spin. I went deep in the $10 3.5k gtd but ended up busting in 22nd of 383 for 28 bucks. I had doubled up on the bubble when I called a min raise on the button with 66 and flopped a set, guy open jams 20k into a 3k pot with AA and I hold, then next hand my AQ gets rivered by A8 for a huge chip lead. Lol donkaments!!

I also went deep at the same time in a five dollar 1.25k gtd, but again only managed 27th of 334 for a $12 payout, I raised KJ on the button and got flatted from the bb, we got it in on a K high flop and he had an ace, wp him :(

I then had a few good sessions on the STT front, a couple of back-to-back winners helped build the roll up to 580ish. I then went four tabling cash at 10c-20c, playing very tight and got it in blind v blind with KK v AT and he spikes an ace on the flop :( There's 40 bucks gone. Unreal how bad I am running in the cash games.

I went to play live late on Monday night and then went to the Westbury monthly game on Tuesday night and cashed in seventh for €500, I had a nice stack two tables out but lost with QQ to 99 for a sizeable pot and then got a few raises snapped off and couldn't get back into it. The worst thing was going outside the club to see that my car had been clamped, €120 and over an hour waiting on them to come out. Tilt inducing to say the least.

Anyway, my balance is now €534.73, not much profit since the last blog but I still have something to work with, I have 25 BIs now for $20 STTs so I might give a few of them a try next and hopefully get off to a good start in them.

You're not going too bad at the moment. How long have you got left until your time is up? Best of luck anyway. You could have done without that clamping too!

ya think the time might be against you lad,but surly the bad run must end soon.(better to run bad in the 10/20 cent games now and not later in the bigger games)keep up the good work lad

you are coming close in some of those mtts you have been playing ...just a bit of good fortune and you will have a nice cash and a BR to do some serious work on your challenge ..looking for a steep rise in that chart of yours ....good luck

Just under 7 weeks left now, yea time is obviously gonna be the problem but that was always going to be the problem. Balance is looking a lot healthier now as you will see in my next blog :)

was watching you tonight for a few hrs...sorry..8 stt and you cashed in 2 with no wins...but that doesnt tell the whole story...i lost count of the times 'all ins' were called with from K high to 8 high !!! and they hit :-( if only the poker odds gods were more honest you would have done well...it was good to watch you play and i have full faith in you getting revenge :-)

Thanks, and yea it can get very frustrating losing them flips or 60/40s but it happens and can be very tough when so many of them go against you in a row. Gotta keep it going though and try and not let it affect me.
